We formally recognise the urgent threat faced by humanity and officially declare a Climate Emergency. We urge you to do the same.

With intense heat waves sweeping across much of the northern hemisphere and massive flooding in the south, climate change is a lived reality for all of us these days. There is no denying that we are living in a climate emergency.

None of us can stand on the sidelines. We all have a part to play to lessen and hopefully reverse our climate impacts.

Declaring a Climate Emergency @ ecoperiod project

At ecoperiod project we are trying to do our bit in addressing and working to eliminate carbon emissions from our operations.

Declaring a Climate Emergency and acknowledging its economical impacts commits us to developing a ‘Climate Emergency Plan’.

Climate Emergency is at the core of ecoperiod project. As we are commited to drastically reduce and hopefully stop plastic production and consumption in our society.

The plan’s action points must be in line with what is needed to reach net zero between 2025-2050 and keep us within the critical 1.5 degrees global mean temperature increase.

The scientific consensus is clear. We have run out of time and must act now, together. We urge you to join us in declaring a climate emergency and ecological breakdown, to reduce your impact on the planet, and use your business to help stem and turn the tide.

Every year, the amount of plastic produced around the world is roughly the same as the entire weight of humanity. 91% of this plastic is not recycled.

An estimated 8 million metric tons of plastic ends up in the ocean each year.

Plastic pollution is flowing from our homes and communities into rivers, onto beaches and down to the very depths of the ocean. Once in the ocean, this plastic breaks into smaller pieces that litter the sea floor, endanger marine life and contribute to health problems for us.

If nothing changes, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050.

We want our ocean to be abundant with LIFE, not with the plastic pollution that is choking wildlife and the natural environment while poisoning us in the process.

In response, we call for a BAN ON SINGLE USE PLASTIC, which comprises 50% of plastic pollution.

We call on our favorite brands to find innovative alternatives to single use plastic products and packaging.

We call on their capacity for creativity, invention and innovation to develop a solution good for us and for our planet.

We pledge to embrace those alternatives.

We are the solution.

#RETHINK OUR FUTURE

Let’s work together to show how we are giving the climate emergency the attention and action it deserves.

Being part of .eco community is for us to take action collectively, so we can amplify our impacts beyond what any of us can do individually. To this end, we encourage you to make your own climate emergency declaration, if you’ve not already done so.

One way to highlight your declaration is to link it to your .eco profile. One of our awesome community members, leap.eco, has created a powerful logo to call attention to this cause. The criteria for use is that you share what you’re doing to address the climate emergency.
